I feel it in my heart, I love with all my heart, I see it with my heart – we often say. But when we suffer, our heart breaks, and a broken heart leads to disease. Our heart does its best to resist troubles, harm and stress as long as it can. In the course of its benevolent operation it does not stop feeding our bodily tissues with blood and oxygen even though we poison our body with fat, sweets, salt, caffeine and nicotine through an improper diet that we follow out of incompetence and stupidity. Moreover, we also allow the destructive forces of anger, jealousy, fear and envy to enter our heart. We do not pay attention to our heart when we bury ourselves in hard work or what is even worse when we indulge in night life or other adrenaline increasing entertainment. In the meantime our heart sends us warning signs in the form of exhaustion, pains and sleepiness. However, we usually ignore the first signs sent to us as warning ambassadors by our troubled heart. Since we do not let them reach our consciousness, our heart soon starts beating faster, sometimes even gets out of rhythm trying hard to feed the tissues and organs full of accumulated toxic material.
The next level of alert arrives with headache, heat and the feeling of heaviness heralding a higher blood pressure. Our good-willed doctor provides us with some pills and our heart may relax for a little while getting used to both its own discomfort and the medicine that makes its task easier for a short time. We also welcome the fine products of modern pharmaceutical industry missing yet another chance to hear the warning coming from our heart. And nothing changes until we start breathing heavily the first time during a quick walk or climbing up the stairs. This time our body does not simply feel tired but suffers from real weakness which might also arrive in the form of a sharp pain striking our heart like lightning. It is followed by fear, panic and the ‘proper diagnosis’: coronary disease, heart attack, cardiac disease, cardiac ischemia etc.
So now we need a good cardiologist, preferably a professor or academic. But what can they do to an exhausted heart that has suffered serious structural changes? And these changes are certainly not limited to the heart itself since normal cardiac action is insufficient to satisfy the needs of a body that has accumulated waste in its systems and developed calcified veins and sick organs. So our heart, the engine of our body has to increase pressure and the number of revolutions per minute in order to perform its task this way engaging itself in a vicious circle. Finally both the doctor and the patient have to face a series of difficult tasks:
to relieve the body from the toxic waste accumulated as a result of its own functioning, to reduce excess weight, the high level of cholesterol and blood lipids, to decrease acidity in the tissues and to restore metabolism including glucose tolerance;
to normalize the functioning of the nervous system, to get rid of vegetative dystonia which in most cases accompanies each cardio-vascular disease;
to help the patient restore psychic health and learn to read and listen to the warnings and signals sent by the heart and the whole body, and finally
to heal the heart.
The difficulty lies in the fact that the tasks listed above usually need to be performed simultaneously and immediately. Therefore, leading cardiologist-scientists recommend a complex approach. By complex they mean a holistic approach that does not aim at healing only the symptoms or the body but curing the whole organism, the person himself. In addition to that, it is of crucial importance to approach the human soul delicately and carefully since our soul, according to our ancestors, lives in the heart.
The synthesis of modern cardiology and Ayurveda, the holistic Indian science provides a real chance to efficiently heal most cardio-vascular diseases. Ayurveda as the most efficient holistic healing system has received international scientific recognition. By applying Ayurvedic healing methods we get an opportunity to indeed prevent the causes triggering cardiac diseases such as excess weight, metabolic disorders, vegetative deformities and chronic fatigue syndrome. Panchakarma cleansing therapy fosters the removal of toxic matter which accompanies each cardio-vascular disease and which accumulates as a result of the insufficient functioning of the tissues due to a lack of oxygen. These metabolites together with excess cholesterol and triglyceride are classified as the main factors having an adverse effect on the cardiac system. The most important principle in Ayurveda is the individual approach applied everywhere: in the treatment of the primary disease, in the diet, in the cleansing and regenerating therapy as well as in people’s exposure to physical load. Modern cardiologic methods combined with an individual approach lead to a precise and timely diagnosis identifying the current phase of any particular disease. They ensure the prescription of proper medicines that assist cardiac action and normalize the functioning of the physiologic systems. This gives an opportunity to the body to release its energies and use them to clean and regenerate its damaged organs. Cardiologic control carried out by the latest diagnostic devices and complemented by the observations of highly qualified, experienced cardiologists ensure the timely setting of the right dose of applied medicine. In addition to that, upon registering improvement or the restoration of normal functions they also help to decide when to stop medication thus protecting the body against the side-effects of potential drug addiction.
This method is quite efficient both in preventing and treating incipient or moderate cases of cardio-vascular diseases. In the case of more serious ailments the synthesis of cardiology and Ayurveda ensures significant improvement in the patient’s physical state and quality of life.
