Medical science can cure people, and the disease inside their bodies or it can ease the symptoms. It collaborates with or hinders the natural healing or recuperative process of the body. The choice on the methods and therapy that define the result to be achieved depends on the objectives of the doctor, the clinic or the patient himself.
In so far as the aim is to clear up and eliminate the reasons triggering the disease, we cannot do without the medicative pills and injections characteristic of symptomatic treatment.
However, a holistic approach is needed, which is capable of considering and recovering the organism in its entirety in addition to harmonising the delicate connections between the mind, the psyche and the physical body. No matter what kind of disease we want to treat, a complex approach is required, an honest, open and clear application of an ancient or modern treatment which has been tested by centuries or been thoroughly proved by hard scientific evidence. We have managed to establish a Clinic meeting all the above requirements and have been using it for 15 years constantly improving our model.
The Panchakarma clinic is based on Ayurveda (the school of ancient Indian healing) and a holistic approach (only in the last decade more than 1,300 academic dissertations and studies have documented its scientific grounding). Panchakarma is a key to the mechanism that makes us able to influence the root causes of diseases.
We use the following procedures in order to apply this particular therapy:
Dipana Pachana - improving the fire of digestion, improving the absorption and digestion of food and medicine, enzyme induction.
Snehana - the impegration of the organism with substances that dissolve and absolve roughage and toxins.

This is done in two stages: from the inside - Abhiantara sneha – by consuming special food and preparations, or from the outside - Bahia Sneha – in the form of massage and other procedures using various therapeutic oils
Abhayanga - simultaneous massage done by two or one therapists using different therapeutic oils. It is recommended for persons who are under stress, who consume alcohol every day or for those who have dry skin and a stiff body.

Udvartana - massage with therapeutic paste and powders to diminish the amount of fat in the body.

Shiro Abhayanga - head massage with special therapeutic oils to prevent headaches and loss of hair improving the sensitivity of the organs

Shiro Dhara - a stream of warm medicinal oil that is aimed at clearly defined zones of the head strengthening the nervous system.

Shiro Vasti - a crown of warm medicinal butter or oil. It improves the nervous system and creates a balance between the consciousness and the body.

Padabhayanga - special Ayurvedic massage of the feet and legs to treat cold legs, improve the eyesight, and prevent fractures.

Akshitharpana Netrovasti - nourishing medicinal oil bath for eyes to improve the eyesight, to diminish pains and to lift the dark circles under the eyes.

Karnapurana - oil bath for the ears to stop the buzzing noise in them and improve their functioning.

Nasatarpana Nasya –nourishing, cleaning and softening medicinal procedure for the nose, face and forehead. In the next stage of the cleaning process toxins and roughage that are dissolved and absolved in the deep tissues should be channelled to the secretive and digestive tracts in order to remove them from the organism. Special warming and steaming procedures are used to this end (Svedana).

Patra Potli – massage-warming with hot sacks filled with rice and other grains previously boiled together with medicinal herbs. It is used for atrophied muscles.

Valuka Sveda – massage-warming with hot sacks filled with hot, dry medicinal ingredients. It is very effective against inflammation.

Patrapinda Sveda – massage-warming with Ayurvedic herbs fried in medicinal oil. It has a very positive influence when the joints and nerves are inflamed.

Nadi Sveda – warming the sore parts of the body or its reflex zones with medicinal steam. It is very effective in curing the inflamed respiratory tract.

Vashpa Sveda – warming of the whole body (except for the head) in a special cabin filled with herbal steam. It improves movement and blood pressure.

Upanaha Sveda – compressing the sore body parts with medicinal substances (cream, powder). It is used to cure sore joints.

Parisheka Sveda – warming the body with a constant stream of warm oil.

Avagaha Sveda – a hot (hyperthermic) bath of medicinal herbal extracts against the chronicle inflammation of joints.

Kati Vasti – local warming of the waist and sacrum section of the spine and its nearby muscle-system with medicinal oil to treat stiff joints, the sacroiliac joints, spondylitis and other spine diseases.

Griva Vasti – local warming of the neck and shoulder zone.

Janu Vasti – local warming of the knee zone – against arthrosis, rheumatism, inflamed joints.

Uro Vasti – local warming of the chest zone – against bronchitis.

Lepa – special applications in the form of warming paste and cream containing organic and mineral oil. It cures skin diseases, skin inflammation and problematic joints.

When the second stage is close to an end, toxins, roughage, mucus, bile and other acids are ready to become secreted, they stop clinging on to the tissues of the body. It is up to the doctor to decide in which of the following four ways they should be removed from the body:
Vamana – induced vomiting
Virechana – purging induced by cleansing herbs and other relaxing medicines.
Basti – enema therapy i.e. the rectal injection of a concoction of a dissolving, rinsing, nourishing or cleansing nature.
Nasya – therapeutic cleansing of the frontal sinuses (nose, face, forehead) and the upper respiratory tarcts.
Having finished the cleansing process, the body is ready to receive impacts brought about by medicines (both Ayurvedic and allopathic ones that are already effective in very small dosages) and procedures.
Diet
Thy food shall be thy medicine
According to Ayurveda a healthy and regulated diet adjusted to the individual constitution of the person is essential for the individual’s health. If we know our constitution and the functioning of our body as well as its relationship to the qualities of various foodstuffs, then we can establish a proper diet for ourselves. Besides the taste of the food (sweet, sour, saline, pungent, bitter and astringent) we also have to consider certain other properties of our nourishment for example whether it heavy or light, war or cold, oily or dry, liquid or solid. In addition, the season, our age, the weather, the time of the day should all be considered when forming our diet.
The physicians at our clinic determine the diet of the patients according to personal needs. The healing methods and dietary principles of Ayurveda are universal and can be applied in any part of the world. Thus, Ayurvedic cuisine do not exclusively include Indian dishes. Still, the wide variety of spices used in Indian cuisine (including not only hot spices but various spices with healing properties also) as well as the different kinds of oils and cooking techniques allows for a much more varied diet than the heavy, one-sided western cuisine based mostly on meat-consumption.
In our clinic the trained physicians formulate your diet consisting of 3-5 meals a day on the basis of Vedic cuisine. We use biologically clean and fresh ingredients to prepare easily digestible, eye-catching, aromatic and tasty dishes with the help of our dietician cook.
What is the point in prescribing medicine if someone does not follow the diet? And why do you need medicines if you follow the diet?
The personal diet based on PRAKRITI is compiled by the physician considering the age of the patient, his/her life-style and the climatic conditions as well. Already a small correction in the diet may restore the self-regulatory ability of the body, which is the real purpose of Ayurvedic healing. In the case of a diseased person the dietary prescriptions and prohibitions assist rapid healing as well as prevent relapse. Of course in this case the dietary instructions should go hand in hand with strict regulations of regimen. In the case of chronic ailments the Ayurvedic diet helps the body to combat disease, it slows down or prevents its further development.
So far we have explored simple but substantial healthcare and curative methods which are recommended for both healthy and sick persons. Apart from their significance, the curative methods of Ayurveda are not restricted to a proper diet and life-style.
